Join us at the Biomedical Library on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm, for a presentation and Q+A with David C. Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc, FCPP, on his new book, Chasing My Cure: A Doctor’s Race to Turn Hope into Action; A Memoir.

You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear first hand from Dr. David Fajgenbaum about his extraordinary story of literally chasing the cure for his own rare disease, Castleman’s Disease. Having heard Dr. Fajgenbaum speak last year at the annual meeting of the Association of American Medical Colleges, I was awestruck on many levels: his story is one of grit, determination, and hope, as well as a success story of collaborative science and the leveraging of big data for discovery in search of life-saving cures.
Dr. Fajgenbaum, a graduate of both the Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School, is co-founder and Executive Director of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network (CDCN), Assistant Professor of Medicine in Translational Medicine & Human Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania, and Associate Director of Patient Impact for the Penn Orphan Disease Center.

We are honored that Dr. Fajgenbaum will participate in our Biomeditations Book Talk series. His research has been published in leading medical journals, and his book has been featured widely in the media, including a report on Radio Times on WHYY. In 2017, the New York Times published a major story entitled, His Doctors Were Stumped. Then He Took Over, about Dr. Fajgenbaum’s struggle with his mysterious illness and his drive to understand and conquer it.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event, or purchase a copy at your favorite bookstore or via Amazon and bring it to the event for Dr. Fajgenbaum to sign. And of course, the Biomedical Library’s copies are on order!
Please register here.
Light refreshments will be served.
