Highlighted Collection: Midwifery in honor of 2020, the Year of the Nurse and Midwife

The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing offers one of the top Nursing-Midwifery programs in the country. During the month of January 2020, the Biomedical Library would like to celebrate the practice and education of Nurse-Midwives with a book display from our collections. Indeed, the World Health Assembly has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

This collection explores common practice issues from research in midwifery to psychology and ethics. The book display includes a variety of print and eBooks, the latter represented by their cover and a QR code for quick access. The display is located on the wall by the Information Desk as you enter the library. Please feel free to browse, check out, and access these titles.

The Biomedical library also subscribes to various nursing databases such as CINAHL/Nursing and the Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence-Based Practice Database for Nursing. For Midwifery specific literature searches, students, faculty, and clinical staff should try using the database subscriptions to either: the Midwifery and Infant Care Database (aka MIDIRS) or the British Nursing Index (aka BNI) available via our website. Stay tuned for Biomeditations blog posts highlighting these two databases.
