Judith Currano named 2020 American Chemical Society Fellow

Judith Currano, Head of the Penn Libraries Chemistry Library, has been elected as a 2020 Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS). ACS is one of the largest scientific organizations in the world dedicated to supporting all aspects of chemistry.

Nominated by Penn’s Chemistry Department, Judith was recognized for her expertise in chemical information, mentoring women in science, and dedicated service to ACS. Notably, she has served as Chair of the both the Division of Chemical Information (CINF) and the ACS Committee on Ethics. Devoted to chemical information instruction and making it accessible to all, Ms. Currano is an internationally recognized leader in this field.

Ms. Currano has a well established record of service at Penn Libraries as Head of the Chemistry Library since 1999. Within the Chemistry Department, she teaches CHEM 601, a half credit course on chemical information that is required as part of the Ph.D. curriculum. She also serves as a key responsible conduct of research advisor within the Department.
